In this artwork, Tanti superimposes a reinterpretation of J.-L. David’s Reclining Nude with a painting based on a medical photograph of a stomach ulcer. The piece juxtaposes the beauty of the human body, as idealised in classical art, with the raw reality of biological decay and disease. Through this work, Tanti continues to explore playful reimaginings of classical masterpieces, infusing them with contemporary perspectives and narratives.
